Q: Do you accept Medicare EPC plans? A: Yes. We accept Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans, which allow eligible patients to receive a rebate on consultations, orthotics, nail surgery, and other podiatry services. You’ll need a referral from your GP to access EPC funding.
Q: How much does an initial podiatry consultation cost? A: An initial consultation (30 minutes) is $135. Pensioner rate is $125. If you have a Medicare EPC plan, the rebated rate is $110.
Q: Do you offer pensioner discounts? A: Yes. We offer reduced fees for pensioners across consultations, orthotics, and EPC services. Pensioner initial consult is $125 and subsequent consults are $110.
Q: How much do custom orthotics cost? A: Adult custom orthotics start from $690 per pair, with health fund rebates available (from $560 with EPC). Children’s orthotics (18 and under) start from $550. A New Biomechanical Assessment package — which includes an initial consult, biomechanical assessment, and foot scan — is $325.
Q: Do you accept private health insurance for podiatry? A: Yes. We work with most major health funds. Rebate amounts vary depending on your level of cover. We recommend checking with your fund prior to your appointment.
Q: How much does nail surgery cost? A: Nail surgery fees start from $650 for one toe, one side. Health fund rebates may apply. Please call us to discuss your specific situation and we can provide an accurate quote.
Q: Do you offer shockwave therapy, and how much does it cost? A: Yes. Shockwave therapy is available for conditions such as plantar fasciitis and heel pain. The initial treatment/consult is $150, with follow-up sessions at $130.
Q: How much does laser therapy cost? A: A laser initial consult is $205, with follow-up treatments at $160. K-Laser sessions are $70 per session.
Q: Where are your clinics located? A: We have clinics in Sydney CBD, Mosman, Rose Bay, Dee Why
Q: Can I claim orthotics on Medicare? A: Orthotics are not directly covered by Medicare on their own, however if you have an EPC referral from your GP, you may be eligible for a rebate on the associated consultation and biomechanical assessment, which can contribute toward your orthotic costs.
Q: Do you offer a pensioner discount? A: Yes. We offer reduced rates for pensioners. For example, an initial consultation with a Senior Podiatrist is $135 (standard rate $145) and a subsequent consult is $125 (standard rate $135).
Q: Do you have a gap-free podiatry option? A: We do not currently offer gap-free consultations. However, most major health funds cover a portion of podiatry fees via HICAPS, meaning you only pay the gap on the day.
Q: Can I claim podiatry on my private health insurance? A: Yes, if your health fund includes extras cover for podiatry. We process claims on the spot via HICAPS. Each service has a specific health fund item code (e.g. F004 for initial consults, F014 for subsequent consults) which your fund uses to calculate your rebate.
Q: Does Medicare cover podiatry? A: Medicare may cover up to 5 podiatry sessions per calendar year under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, also known as an EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) plan. You’ll need a referral from your GP. Please contact us to confirm if you’re eligible.
Q: What payment methods do you accept? A: We accept EFTPOS, credit card, and HICAPS for on-the-spot health fund claims.
Q: How long is a podiatry appointment? A: An initial consultation is typically 30 minutes. Biomechanical assessments and advanced therapy sessions may run longer depending on the complexity of your condition.
Q: Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist? A: No referral is needed for a standard podiatry consultation. However, if you’d like to claim Medicare rebates under a CDM/EPC plan, you will need a referral from your GP.
Q: What is the difference between an initial and subsequent consultation? A: An initial consultation is for new patients or a new presenting condition — it includes a full history, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan. A subsequent consult is a follow-up for an existing condition.
Q: How much do custom orthotics cost at ModPod? A: Adult custom orthotics are $690 per pair (health fund code F221). Children’s custom orthotics (under 18) are $550 per pair. Semi-custom orthotics are available from $430 per pair.
Q: What is the difference between custom and pre-made orthotics? A: Custom orthotics are individually prescribed and manufactured based on a 3D scan of your foot. Pre-made orthotics are off-the-shelf insoles that can be trimmed to fit. Custom orthotics are recommended for complex biomechanical issues, while pre-made options suit milder conditions.
Q: Is a 3D foot scan included in the orthotic price? A: The 3D foot scan ($80, health fund code 301) is charged separately. It is taken during the initial biomechanical visit if you are proceeding with orthotics. A Total Bio Package for new patients bundles the consult, biomechanical assessment, and scan for $325.
Q: What conditions does shockwave therapy treat? A: Shockwave therapy is used to treat musculoskeletal pain including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and heel pain. An initial shockwave session is $150 and follow-up sessions are $130.
Q: What is cold laser treatment used for? A: Cold laser (low-level laser therapy) is primarily used at ModPod to treat fungal nail infections. An initial cold laser session is $205 and follow-up sessions are $160.
Q: How many shockwave or laser sessions will I need? A: The number of sessions varies depending on your condition and response to treatment. Your podiatrist will recommend a treatment plan at your initial consultation.
