What We Treat At Dee Why

SPorts-podiatry-dee why

Our Dee Why podiatrists treat a wide range of foot, ankle and lower limb conditions. Common presentations include:

  • Heel pain and plantar fasciitis — We use shockwave therapy, custom orthotics and structured rehabilitation programs.
  • Custom orthotics — each pair is designed from a biomechanical assessment using our digital video analysis treadmill.
  • Ingrown toenails — we perform partial nail avulsion under local anaesthetic, as well as conservative nail clearing.
  • Fungal nail treatment — we use the Lunula cold laser to treat fungal toenails.
  • Sports injuries — shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, stress fractures and knee pain linked to foot biomechanics.
  • Children’s feet — flat feet, toe walking, growing pains and gait concerns. We fit children’s orthotics.
  • Corns and calluses — painful corns and hard skin removed in a single appointment with immediate relief.
  • Diabetic foot care — routine nail care, sensation testing and diabetic foot assessments to prevent complications.

Custom Orthotics In Dee Why

Custom orthotics are one of the most common treatments we prescribe at Dee Why. We design each pair based on a thorough biomechanical assessment using video analysis. This captures how your foot loads during walking and running — giving us accurate data to guide the orthotic design.

We prescribe orthotics for heel pain, flat feet, knee pain, shin splints and biomechanical issues that cause pain further up the chain. We also fit children’s orthotics and can adjust devices as your child grows.

If you’ve had orthotics before and they didn’t work, the prescription may not have been right. A reassessment with pressure plate data often reveals what was missed.

Sports Podiatry In Dee Why

The Northern Beaches is home to runners, surfers, trail runners and ocean swimmers. Our Dee Why podiatrists treat sports injuries including:

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome)
  • Stress fractures — metatarsal and calcaneal
  • Knee pain — patellofemoral pain and ITB syndrome linked to foot mechanics
  • Ankle sprains — assessment, rehab and prevention of recurrence

We use digital analysis to assess your gait, identify biomechanical faults and guide treatment decisions. Whether you run the Manly to Spit walk, train at Dee Why beach or play weekend sport, we can help you stay on your feet.

Podiatry Services Dee Why

Our podiatrists work with athletes and weekend warriors across the Northern Beaches. Whether you’re managing shin splints, Achilles pain, a stress fracture or a running injury, we assess movement patterns and build a treatment plan around your activity goals.

We prescribe and fit custom orthotic devices based on a thorough biomechanical assessment. Our treadmill captures data during walking and running to guide orthotic design. We also fit children’s orthotics and can adjust devices as your child grows.

Sharp, burning pain in the ball of your foot may be Morton’s neuroma. We use padding, orthotics and footwear advice to reduce pressure on the affected nerve

Heel pain is one of the most frequent presentations we see. We identify the cause — whether plantar fasciitis, fat pad irritation or Achilles tendinopathy — and tailor treatment to get you moving again

Thickened, discoloured nails are often caused by fungal infection. We provide visual diagnosis, topical therapy and laser treatment at our Mosman clinic. If pharmacy creams haven’t worked, laser reaches the infection under the nail where topical products can’t.

It is important to emphasise that a timely diagnosis of Bunions can decrease the chance of needing more aggressive treatments.

Ingrown toenails are one of the most common reasons people visit our Dee Why clinic. We offer conservative care and minor nail surgery under local anaesthetic for recurring cases.

A clinical-grade foot treatment performed by a qualified podiatrist. We address callus, hard skin and nail care in a sterile clinical environment.

Frequently
Asked Questions

heading strip

Do I need a GP referral to see a podiatrist at Dee Why?

No. You can book directly with us — no referral is needed. If you have a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan from your GP, you can claim up to 5 subsidised visits per calendar year. We process Medicare and private health fund claims on the spot.

How much does a podiatry appointment cost at Dee Why?

Initial consultations start from $130. Treatment costs vary depending on the service — for example, custom orthotics and ingrown toenail surgery have separate fees. We provide a full quote before starting any treatment. Private health fund rebates apply, and we process claims on the spot with HICAPS.

Where is your Dee Why clinic?

We are located at Suite 4103, 803 Pittwater Rd, Dee Why NSW 2099 — inside the Dee Why Grand. Street parking is available on Pittwater Road and surrounding streets. The Dee Why Grand also has its own parking. We are a short walk from the B-Line bus stop.

Are you open on Saturdays?

Yes. Our Dee Why clinic is open Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Saturday appointments fill fast, so we recommend booking ahead.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring your Medicare card and private health fund card if you have one. If your GP has given you an EPC referral, bring that too. Wear or bring the shoes you use most — this helps us assess how your footwear affects your feet. If you have previous orthotics, bring those as well.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We see children of all ages — from toddlers learning to walk through to teenagers with sports injuries. Common presentations include flat feet, in-toeing, toe walking, heel pain (Sever's disease) and growing pains. We fit children's orthotics and adjust them as your child grows.

How does your fungal nail laser treatment work?

We use the Lunula cold laser — a painless treatment with no heat, no needles and no downtime. Most patients need 4 sessions spaced one week apart. We diagnose fungal nails visually on the same day and begin treatment immediately. No lab tests or waiting for results. We have treated over 10,000 patients across our five Sydney clinics.

What is the zebris pressure plate treadmill?

The zebris is a treadmill with built-in pressure sensors that captures how your feet load during walking and running. This gives us accurate data to identify biomechanical issues and design custom orthotics — rather than relying on a static foam box impression.

Can you fix an ingrown toenail permanently?

Yes. We perform partial nail avulsion — a minor procedure under local anaesthetic that removes the ingrown section and prevents it from growing back. It takes about 20 minutes. You walk out of the clinic the same day and can return to normal shoes within a few days. All follow-up dressing appointments are included.

Do you offer shockwave therapy?

Yes. We offer radial shockwave therapy at Dee Why for chronic heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis that hasn't responded to other treatments. Most patients notice improvement within 3 to 5 sessions.

How are your custom orthotics different from off-the-shelf insoles?

Our orthotics are custom-designed from pressure plate gait analysis data. Off-the-shelf insoles are generic and don't account for your individual biomechanics. Custom orthotics address the specific mechanical fault causing your pain — which is why they work when generic insoles don't.

Can I claim my podiatry visit on my health fund?

Yes. We accept all major private health funds and process claims on the spot using HICAPS. Your rebate amount depends on your level of cover. If you have a Medicare EPC plan, you can also claim up to 5 subsidised podiatry visits per calendar year.
