Northern Beaches Podiatry Services
Our Dee Why clinic offers the full range of podiatry services for Northern Beaches residents. We combine experienced podiatrists with diagnostic technology — including digital video analysis — to provide accurate assessments and effective treatment.
- Custom orthotics — designed from pressure plate gait analysis, not foam box impressions. We prescribe orthotics for heel pain, flat feet, knee pain, shin splints and biomechanical conditions.
- Fungal nail laser treatment — painless Lunula cold laser treatment for fungal toenails.
- Ingrown toenail surgery — partial nail avulsion under local anaesthetic.
- Sports podiatry — treatment for shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, stress fractures, plantar fasciitis and knee pain linked to foot biomechanics.
- Heel pain and plantar fasciitis — shockwave therapy, custom orthotics and structured rehab programs to resolve chronic heel pain.
- Children’s podiatry — flat feet, toe walking, growing pains and gait concerns. Orthotics fitted and adjusted as your child grows.
- Diabetic foot care — routine nail care, sensation testing and risk assessments.
- Corns and calluses — removal in a single appointment with immediate relief.
Custom Orthotics For Northern Beaches
Custom orthotics are the most common treatment we prescribe at our Dee Why clinic. Each pair is designed from a biomechanical assessment using digital video analysis. This captures real pressure data during walking and running — giving us accurate data to guide the orthotic design rather than relying on a static foam box impression.
- We prescribe orthotics for:
- Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
- Flat feet (pes planus)
- High arches (pes cavus)
- Knee pain linked to foot mechanics
- Shin splints
- Children’s foot and gait concerns
If you’ve had orthotics before and they didn’t work, the prescription may not have been right. A reassessment with pressure plate data often reveals what was missed.
Sports Podiatry On The Northern Beaches
The Northern Beaches is one of Sydney’s most active communities. From trail runners on the Manly Dam tracks to surfers at Curl Curl, ocean swimmers at Dee Why and weekend football at Brookvale Oval — the area produces a high volume of foot and lower limb injuries.
Common sports presentations we treat at Dee Why include:
- Shin splints — medial tibial stress syndrome, common in runners increasing distance or switching to harder surfaces
- Achilles tendinopathy — pain at the back of the heel or mid-tendon, often from sudden changes in training load
- Plantar fasciitis — heel pain under the foot, worse with first steps in the morning
- Stress fractures — metatarsal and calcaneal stress fractures in runners and court sport athletes
- Knee pain — patellofemoral pain and ITB syndrome caused by foot biomechanics
- Ankle sprains — assessment, rehabilitation and prevention of recurrence
We use the treadmill to assess gait during walking and running. This identifies biomechanical faults that contribute to injury — and guides treatment decisions including orthotic design.
Whether you train for the Sun Run, run the Manly to Spit Bridge walk, or play club sport on the Beaches, our podiatrists can help you stay active and injury-free.
Fungal Nail Laser Treatment
On The Northern Beaches
Living near the beach means higher exposure to fungal nail infections — shared showers, warm sand, barefoot walking and wet environments all contribute. We treat fungal toenails at our Dee Why clinic using the Lunula cold laser.
The treatment is painless — no heat, no needles, no downtime. Most patients need 4 sessions spaced one week apart. We diagnose fungal nails visually. An experienced podiatrist can identify fungal nail infection by appearance more reliably than lab cultures, which take weeks and often return false negatives. Treatment starts the same day.
We have treated over 10,000 patients across our five Sydney clinics with a 75–90% success rate.
Children's Podiatry
We see children of all ages at our Dee Why clinic — from toddlers learning to walk through to teenagers with sports injuries. Common presentations include flat feet, in-toeing, toe walking, heel pain (Sever’s disease) and growing pains.
We fit children’s orthotics and adjust devices as your child grows. If your child complains of sore feet or legs, or you’ve noticed something unusual about their gait, a podiatry assessment can identify whether treatment is needed.

Meet The Team
Will graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine and is one of the most requested podiatrists at our Mosman clinic. He has a strong focus on sports injuries, lower limb biomechanics, ingrown toenail surgery and orthotic therapy. Will treats runners, active patients and anyone dealing with persistent foot or leg pain.
Trent has over 24 years of clinical experience and graduated from Western Sydney University. He leads the clinical team and mentors younger podiatrists across the practice. Trent has a strong focus on sports podiatry, paediatric podiatry, orthotic therapy and biomechanics. He is the go-to podiatrist for children’s foot concerns at Mosman and treats patients of all ages.
Dr Tariq Khan holds a PhD in phytochemical research, is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and is a Consultant Podiatrist at University College London Hospitals. He has practised podiatry since 1993. Tariq has a special interest in podiatric dermatology — including warts, fungal conditions and rare skin presentations. GPs and dermatologists regularly refer patients to Tariq for complex dermatological foot conditions.
Alison has a keen interest in sports podiatry and enjoys helping patients of all activity levels stay mobile and pain-free. Outside the clinic, she loves travelling, staying active, and spending quality time with her family. She currently consults from both the Mosman and Dee Why clinics
Greta treats patients across a range of podiatric presentations and provides thorough, attentive care at the Mosman clinic. Greta is passionate about helping people stay active, comfortable, and confident on their feet, and she enjoys all aspects of podiatry.
Originally from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Jake completed his podiatry studies at the University of Newcastle. He has a strong interest in all areas of podiatry, with a particular focus on sports-related injuries and biomechanics.
Frequently
Asked Questions
Where is the closest ModPod clinic on the Northern Beaches?
Our Dee Why clinic at Suite 4103/834 Pittwater Road is central to the peninsula — accessible from Manly, Brookvale, Narrabeen, Mona Vale and everywhere in between via Pittwater Road or the B-Line bus.
Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
No. You can book directly — no GP referral is needed. If you have a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, you can claim up to 5 subsidised visits per calendar year. We process Medicare and private health fund claims on the spot.
How much does a podiatrist cost on the Northern Beaches?
Initial consultations at our Dee Why clinic start from $130. Treatment costs vary depending on the service. We provide a full quote before starting any treatment and process health fund rebates on the spot with HICAPS.
Do you treat sports injuries?
Yes. We treat shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, knee pain and ankle sprains. We use the zebris pressure plate treadmill to assess your gait and identify the biomechanical faults contributing to your injury. We see runners, surfers, trail runners and club sport athletes from across the Northern Beaches.
What is the zebris pressure plate treadmill?
The zebris is a treadmill with built-in pressure sensors that records how your feet load during walking and running. This data helps us identify biomechanical problems and design custom orthotics with precision — rather than relying on a static foam box impression.
Can you treat fungal toenails?
Yes. We use the Lunula cold laser — a painless treatment with no heat, needles or downtime. Most patients need 4 sessions spaced one week apart. We diagnose fungal nails visually and start treatment the same day — no lab tests or waiting for results. We have treated over 10,000 patients across our five Sydney clinics.
Do you treat children's feet?
Yes. We see children from toddlers through to teenagers. Common presentations include flat feet, in-toeing, toe walking, heel pain (Sever's disease) and growing pains. We fit children's orthotics and adjust devices as your child grows.
Are you open on Saturdays?
Yes. Our Dee Why clinic is open Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Saturday appointments are popular and fill fast, so we recommend booking ahead.
Is there parking at the Dee Why clinic?
Yes. The Dee Why Grand has its own parking, and street parking is available on Pittwater Road and surrounding streets. The clinic is also a short walk from the B-Line bus stop at Dee Why.
What's the difference between custom orthotics and chemist insoles?
Custom orthotics are designed from your individual gait data using a pressure plate treadmill. Chemist insoles are generic and don't account for your specific biomechanics. Custom orthotics address the mechanical cause of your pain — which is why they work when off-the-shelf products don't.
Can you fix an ingrown toenail in one visit?
Yes. We perform partial nail avulsion under local anaesthetic — a 20-minute procedure that removes the ingrown section and prevents it from growing back. You walk out of the clinic the same day. All follow-up dressing appointments are included in the initial fee.
Do you bulk bill?
We don't bulk bill, but if your GP has set up a Medicare EPC plan for you, Medicare will cover part of the cost for up to 5 podiatry visits per calendar year. We also accept all major private health funds and process claims on the spot.
