10 Questions Before Your First Podiatry Visit

ModPod has treated more than 39,000 patients across Sydney. We looked at 4,103 patient phone calls to find out what people asked before booking. The same 10 questions came up again and again. Here they are, with plain answers, so you know what to expect before you pick up the phone.

How much will my appointment cost?

A standard visit costs $110 to $145. Fungal nail laser costs $205 for the first treatment and $160 for each follow-up. Health fund item codes apply to most visits and you receive a receipt to claim.

Can I be seen today or tomorrow?

ModPod offers same-day appointments when a slot is available, so call first thing because morning appointments fill quickly. You can also ask to join the cancellation list, as many patients are seen within a day or two when a spot opens.

Are there Saturday appointments?

Yes. Saturday clinics are available at Mosman from 8am–12:30pm, Dee Why from 8am–12pm, and Rose Bay from 8am–1pm; book ahead because Saturday slots fill quickly.

Does Medicare cover it, or can I claim through my health fund?

ModPod does not bulk bill, and Medicare does not cover most general foot visits, but private health extras may apply depending on your policy. You receive a receipt with item numbers for your health fund claim, and you do not need a GP referral to book.

What happens at my first appointment?

Your podiatrist discusses your symptoms and lifestyle, examines your feet and walk, and explains the findings and treatment options in plain language. You hear the cost before treatment begins, and in most cases treatment starts during that same visit.

How long does the first appointment take?

Allow 30 to 45 minutes for your questions, examination, explanations, and initial treatment. The appointment may be shorter or longer depending on what your feet need.

Do I need a GP referral?

No, you can book with ModPod without seeing a GP first. A referral is only relevant if you need a Medicare care plan, such as an EPC or CDM referral, which may affect your rebate.

Which clinic is closest to me?

ModPod has five Sydney clinics: Sydney CBD, Mosman, Dee Why, Rose Bay, and North Ryde. Choose the clinic closest to home or work, or the one with the soonest opening; all five offer the same standard of care.

Can I choose my podiatrist?

Yes, ask for a specific podiatrist when you book and the team will match you where the schedule allows. Lance sees patients at Rose Bay, and Will Zalloua treats children’s feet at Mosman.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring your health fund card, any referral or care plan documents, relevant scans or reports, and comfortable shoes for a gait or biomechanical check; none is essential, but each can help. Book your appointment online when you are ready.
